The Information Security Coalition (ISC) is calling for applications from information technology developers under the second round of its Small Technology Grants.
The Small Technology Grants support one of the ISC’s two programme objectives; namely establishing and supporting a coalition of expert organizations and individuals who are creating information security systems, tools, and research in support of civil society organizations, independent media, and human rights activists located in countries around the world, except in China, Iran, and North Korea which are not covered by the programme.
Grant applications are expected to match at least one of the four Small Technology Grants categories. The Categories are: technical and field testing of existing tools; linguistic translation of software interface, documentation, or training materials; creation of product documentation or training materials; and customization or improvement of existing tools.
Eligible organizations must be a registered business, association, non-governmental organization (NGO), civil society organization (CSO), union, media agency, professional association, network, or a partnership of such organizations.
Organizations may form partnerships or submit applications on behalf of a network. However, in the case of partnerships or networks, only one organization may be the lead applicant, and that organization will receive all communications related to the grant.
Prospective applicants may submit questions for clarification to ISC before the close of submission of applications. All questions are to be submitted to email@example.com. However, the deadline for the submission of questions is January 15, 2013, while the deadline for the submission of applications is January 25, 2013.
Applications and all communications regarding grants are to be submitted by PGP-encrypted email to firstname.lastname@example.org using the public key: https://www.informsec.net/grants-pgp/. Applicants should email a PDF of the application with the subject line “ISC Grant Application” to email@example.com.

The ISC Small Technology Grants are funded under a cooperative agreement programme between Counterpart International and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
