The Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute in New York University (NYU) in the United States is inviting journalists from around the world to apply for the World Journalist Fellowship.

Prospective applicants must be journalists with at least two years of experience and fluency in English and at least one other language.

Coming up in New York, the Fellowship provides an opportunity for international journalists to study in the Master of Arts program in Journalism at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.

Selected journalists will pursue a degree in one of nine concentrations including: Business and Economic Reporting; Cultural Reporting and Criticism; Global and Joint Program Studies; Literary Reportage; Magazine Writing; News and Documentary; Reporting the Nation and New York; Science, Health and Environmental Reporting; and Studio 20.

To be eligible, candidates must also complete the application for the graduate program of their choice. The GRE and TOEFL are required tests for admission to NYU and applicants have until January 24, 2018 to submit their scores.

The Fellowship covers tuition expenses and registration fees for two of the three semesters of the program. The fellow will also receive a stipend of approximately $13,000 for each of the two semesters of the fellowship.

Interested applicants must be full-time international journalists who hold non-U.S. passports, with a minimum of two years’ experience at a print or electronic journalism medium. A combination of free-lance journalism assignments equal to at least two years of full-time work will be considered. Internships and work for student publications do not count toward the two-year requirement. Public Relations and corporate communications experience do not qualify.

Submission of application closes on January 4, 2018.
